![]() ![]() ![]() Something like Foobar is popular, and it can do probably everything anyone could want, but not a lot of those functions are built-in, so you have to add the pieces like adding extensions to a browser. MusicBee seemed to do basically everything, its layout windows can be changed positions to make your own setup easily enough, plenty of skins, has a good lyrics window that can show the song lyrics as well as auto-downloads pictures and facts about the band that is currently playing, it has WASAPI support for a cleaner sound than using Windows DirectShow, etc. If anyone knows of MP3 players similar to this, I would be interested in checking it out.Ĭlick to expand.A couple years ago I tested pretty much every free PC audio player, and some paid ones. It provides a cool visual when I am playing mp3s. One of the cool things with this setup is when I project my laptop to my 55" television. There are also presets on the eq for various types of music, rock, classic, club etc. On the eq the spectrum analyzer animates also to the music playing and the sliders can be moved to customize the sound. When playing, the cassette wheels turn, the db meter functions and the tape counter moves to the music playing. It can be customized as to what shows (there is also an option to show the amp). Here is the cassette deck, eq and 2 speakers. The skins I found at AIMPĪmong the skins available is this one which I am now using. It not only had some really cool skins, it also has a host of features that allows you to customize the sound. In my search I came a across one I had never heard of called AIMP. There are skins for Windows Media player but I could not find what I was looking for. I had been wanting an MP3 player with skins that would imitate a cassette deck (What can I say, I am old.) ![]() I have no affiliation with its creators nor am I compensated for posting about it in any way whatsoever. Of course you'd need to download foobar2000, install it and run it once before replacing the existing configuration files with the attached ones.Disclaimer: This is a product I tried and thought others might like. If anyone decides to try my configuration, please report back as to whether it worked as expected. ![]() There's a text file included with instructions as to where to copy the configuration files and how to do same basic GUI configuring stuff etc. Items can be added to existing/new playlists via the left and middle mouse buttons (once the media library location has been set and foobar2000 has scanned it). It includes the decoder plugins I use so once the files are copied to the correct location foobar2000 should decode all the common formats. I've always thought there should be a place for foobar2000 users to share their configurations, given setting it up nicely can be a bit time consuming, especially if you're not familiar with it, and especially as sharing them is quite easy to do. Is there something that's kind of an equivalent to PotPlayer but for audio? Thanks. I use PotPlayer for video and it seems like the last video player I will ever need, plus it does it all with its own built-in codecs. I refuse to use iTunes or any Apple products. Media Player Classic and WinAmp don't seem to do what I need either, although at least they have freaking menu bars and with enough codecs, they can handle just about any type of audio file. But of course, only the atrocious Media Player 12 is usable on Windows 7. Like just about every aspect of Windows XP, Windows Media Player 11 did all the above perfectly. Also, I don't have any need for fancy media library management. Heavyweight audio editors like SoundForge or WaveLab are not on the table I just need a quick and easy player. I need an audio player for Windows 7 64 bit that 1) can handle more or less any conceivable bit depth, sampling rate, and audio file format, 2) gives me a large, easy-to-see spectrum analyzer and graphic equalizer, and 3) has a recognizable menu bar with things like File, View, Help, etc. ![]()
